separation pay is only for when you are fired or your position is eliminated. If you are quitting, you are not entitled to separation pay, but you should be sure to get all vacation/personal day pay you have accumulated

You won't get a red cent. Separation pay is for people that experience down sizing, lay offs, termination or some kind of involuntary job loss.

Just be sure you leave on good terms. You never know, you might need to come back and you do want a good reference.

No, separation or severance pay would be very unusual if you resign. They've been paying you while you've worked there - that's all you really have coming.

If you're laid off, it's common that a company will give you severance pay, but they're not required to unless you have a contract that says they do.

"Separation pay" is for people who are INVOLUNTARILY SEPARATED. Leaving voluntarily for another job is not the same as being fired.

If you haven't turned in your letter yet, you could write to your director or vice president through your immediate supervisor recommending that your JOB be eliminated since computers do most of the work and ask for a separation and suggestion bonus.

Otherwise you're not going to get blood out of a turnip.

No. Seperation pay is only for layoffs or in certain cases where they had to let you go against your will.

The point of it is them trying to make the transition easier for people who are involuntarily unemployed, not as a reward for past service.

It is sad, and probably unfair. Bot most companies would care little. Pretty much once you resign, they will find someone that can do your job faster and cheaper.

Yep. They may give you a good bye lunch, but they'll laugh at you square in the face if you ask them for separation payment.
