He could just chase them away and put the rest of the chickens in a more secure place. As far as I know, foxes, however cute they may be, don't know guilt, so crying won't solve the farmer's problems. hehe.

Most veterinarians have a big heart for all creatures, ask a local one about a live trap to catch the offending four footed foxy chicken snatcher.
I you take it about five to ten miles from your home that should be sufficient to keep it away. But, you might just need to catch several of them before your trials are over.
You still need to tighten the fence area around your chickens in case some other fox family moves in later.
Best of luck.

I dont know what farmer would not shoot a fox that is killing off his family's food. If he cant do it he can post an add asking for assistance from hunters. Trapping and releasing would not do any good. They would eventually find their way back.

Run the fox off and build a more secure, fox proof chicken fence and buy a dog that will bark and raise hell whenever a wild animal is in the neighborhood.

You could set out a dog trap cage with a dead chicken in it. Catch it and drive it far away so you won't have that fox doing it again. But you might have more than one. Good luck. HEHE.

Use a live trap, this will not hurt the animal but you will have to use a live chicken for bait, the chicken most likley won't make the next day but you will have caught the fox.

Catch the foxes and cultivate them to make love to the chickens.
You might end up with some foxy chickens.

build a fox-proof chicken house made of steel and cement ground to keep the chickens safe from adorably cute foxes, who are out to hunt innocent plump chickens.

Quit farming.
Farming is mostly about two things: killing things and cleaning up ****.
The rest is just for show. Nothing is too cute to kill. If that was the case, lions wouldn't eat baby deer.
P.S. I liked sloth's answer, but if you raise foxes, they would still get killed.
