it's hard,but sometimes you get lucky ,and get to be in a huge movie.

You're right, becoming an actor isn't really that hard in itself. The hard part of being an actor is finding steady employment. One of the main things that separates showbiz from the rest of the working world is that showbiz jobs last you (if you're lucky) a month or two before you're unemplyed again. If you're working as a crew person, that necessarily isn't that bad cuz you can go out and do your own tihng. But as an actor, you have to audition for these crew people, casting directors specifically and there's a lot of competition out there. It's that competition that makes acting a tough gig to successfully break into. A majority of actors work part-time jobs and act on the weekends. To become truly successful is to be able to leave that part-time job behind and be able to act 24/7 and as I've said, that isn't that easy to do.

Most of the people I know they wanted to be actors spent the best years of their 20's without making any money and them they were told they were too old for that job.

it can be hard, but look at how famous some people are nowadays and they were once nobodies. examples like daniel radcliffe (harry potter)
