99% of the time, movies that get wide releases are total crap. There are decent new movies that are released, but they usually only come out September through December, hoping to win all kinds of Oscars. And the ones that are released during the other months of the year usually don't get released outside of major cities. So people like me who don't live in New York or LA would have to make long-ish trips to try to find a theatre that actually plays these little movies, or wait for them to come out on DVD.

Totally agree.
I cringe everytime I hear that ANOTHER Will Farrel, Rob Schneider, Adam Sandler, Ben Stiller or Wayans Bros. movie is coming out.
But, a lot of people seem to like this kind of crap, so....
I just wait until movies come out on cable or DVD now. WAY cheaper and I can stop the movie or fast forward anytime I want.

Yes I've noticed this and I'm glad because at this time I can't afford to go to the movies. I can however enjoy the older, better movies I missed at 2 for $1 at the movie rental place.

Lately??? There hasn't been a decent movie in years, everything has turned to crap. I can't watch tv anymore. We have satellite with hundreds of channels and I still can't find anything to watch! They should cut down on the quantity and start making quality movies and tv programs!

I think it's because movie makers always try to copy a sure thing (in their minds anyway) and it most all comes out boring sludge.
I used to look forward to Woody Allen and Spike Lee but they've become mediocre (yawn). I plan to see Idle Wild this weekend. I hope it's good.

yes. and not only do the plots suck so do the actors lately. also, just a thought....why can't anyone write a good script anymore? why is it all remakes (which disgrace the original) or sequals. i swear if i ever have to sit thru the 2nd 3rd or 4th anymore i'm gonna go bananas!

True, they're running out of ideas. Hence all the sequals and titles like "Snake on a plane". I'm sorry but when I heard that it sounded like they just weren't trying anymore. Couldn't they call it "Viper Flight" or something? I don't know. But I agree with you. Ideas are slim and that's bad news for all us movie fanatics.
(Woe is us.) :(

To me it seems like almost every movie is a remake anymore, even the ones that you don't know are remakes, are remakes. The original is always better. What happened to creativity and originality?
