I don't think it will change and I wouldn't consider it having any relation to justice. That's the way it is but the thing you're talking about doesn't apply to people and the color of their skin, that's just silly. BTW, what part of Africa are you from?

I don't buy this argument. In this day and age the only thing holding a person down is themselves. There is still a lot of racism in our culture and that is a two way street. It takes a conscious effort to change. We still have a long way to go.

Was not the term "Black" chosen by African Americans as a group identity? Such as The Black Panthers. I always assumed it was.

I don't think we could convince enough people to change the concept of black and white, but we can make an effort not to apply black and white thinking when dealing with others.

How can you compare black leather to black skin? A little far fetched buddy. Bad people are bad people. Good people are good people and unless you've crawled out from under some rock in the middle of nowhere, it is now the year 2006 and we are quite the diverse world. It is people like you and these crazy thoughts that actually embrace racism, rather than help it any. The rest of us aren't sitting around conjouring up ridiculous thoughts on what the color of our clothing portrays us to be. Stop watching movies and get out and do something positive in your community for a change.

forgot one thing...it's ATHIEST you moran! Now I can see why you are the way you are...spent too much time preaching and not enough time learning. Explains your situation now doesn't it?

Lay off the CAPS LOCK and people will take you a bit more seriously.

That said, the Chinese use white to symbolize evil. In many traditional theater pieces from the last 300 years, bad guys wore white on their face.

And in some Native American cultures, black is seen as a "good" color. Raven is black, but is largely a benefactor to his people.

Black leather jackets = bad? Hey, the Fonz was a cool dude, y'know? And don't forget Shaft!

Yes and no! Black is the colour of mourning as well. The bereaved are not classified as bad people but bereaved!

As for anything else ... There are still too many people out there ready to judge a book by its cover! Sadly they deny themslves, and others, the priviedge to know a person for who the person is, accept and respect that colour can only be a barrier in the eyes of those who see it as an important part of the person.

You mentioned the black leather jackets and the black hat. Maybe back 30+ years ago, it was considered as repersenting something bad or evil, even though the person wearing it on TV 30-50 years ago was white most of the time. Today, I think of it as mysterous, such as gothic wear. Many today, white & black, wear black including motorcycle garb. Most of them are "cool" once you get to know them. Stop sterotyping, learn to know other cultures.

You notice they react with sarcasm? That's good. It means you're listening to SOME degree.

The whole black=evil thing dates back to our most primitive forefathers whose mastery of fire was still in development. Night fell, and darkness enveloped the land. Night was black, the blackness hid the dangers that lurked to take primitive man down. Darkness was bad, light was good.

If blacks today are considered to be evil, it's only because they refuse to play by the rules who are, for the most part, made by intellectual white people. Ignore this if you really want to, but WHITE PEOPLE ARE NOT EVIL. The white man does not exist to keep the black man down. Go to college, get yourself an education, and try to raise your kids in a world that believes that they can get along with everyone; even whitey.

I bet you saw that movie Malcolm X... don't worry i'm not being sarcastic I agree that black is usually used to depict black... i usually get upset about that too but the leather jacket example goes too far... I found actually, that the "black" symbolism also goes with the night which was considered a time of evil unrelated to skin colour just because of the fear of the unknown... however I still think that the colour assignments are a bit unfair

Your caps lock button is stuck on. It means that you're yelling. (((((yawn)))))) when is the black/white issue going to end? I think blacks keep using it as an excuse to keep whites down too as reverse prejudism. I'm sorry for all the bad stuff people totally unrelated to me did and all that but it's time to move on. Get responsibility for your life and stop blaming others for your own perceived limitations. Lots of successful black are out there making mega bucks in great jobs and living responsible lives. You can too.
