I have a 2 year old son who will NOT go to sleep at a decent, or indecent hour. We've been going the rounds with him for three weeks now.

Try a drop of bergamot essential oil on the bottom of each foot one half hour before bedtime. Stay away from lavender essential oil, I'm sensing it's not the best remedy for him (which surprised me).

Give him 1/2 to 1 tsp milk of magnesia in soft food or liquid. Magnesium has a calming effect on the nerves. Chamomile or sleepy time tea with a little honey in it is soothing. Centrum junior vitamins, which can be crushed and given in soft food or orange juice, may help to soothe a hyped up nervous system. Try to limit his daily naps.
Don't let him watch or listen to stimulating TV or music after sunset. Put on something soothing. Lavender bath oil is very calming as is lavender scented popouri or candles.

Keep him busy during the day with a lot of physical activity. He maybe out growing his nap too! Put him in his room at the same time every night, put your foot down, a 2 year old should not be running your life!
Good Luck

Chamomile tea! Just make sure you sweeten it with natural sugar or honey. My mother says my great-grandmother used to feed it to her kids when babies to help settle the stomach and calm them for sleep.

Why not try turkey babyfood? Tryptophan in turkey is a natural chemical that causes drowsiness. This may help.
