I am looking to earn extra income at home. I've been looking for a data entry job online, but they all seem like scams. If anyone knows of a legitimate company that does not require you to pay a start up fee, please let me know.

Best would be to look at the local Chamber of Commerce web sites and send a resume to every company that seems to need this service.

Put your resume, CAREFULLY edited for privacy, on Monster and other web job boards.

DO NOT pay any fee up front. Sometimes even the job boards get scammers acting as employers.

While your at this, put cards on all the bulliten boards you can find. Let all your friends and past co-workers know and you just might be REALLY independant.

Also, always return messages with thank yous, even refusals, and ask if they know of someone else that could use your services.

You could also try a google search such as ["data entry" [your town, zip code or telephone area code] hiring needed] remove the brackets and the quotes keep words together. You might find a job in the searching so try different word(s) with ["data entry]".

Also, check to see if the interesting companies you found have web sites. Many companies try job ads on thier site first since it is inexpensive and they could get referals from existing employees.

Good Luck,

There are many opportunities for ppl to work online nowadays and earn some extra money, by making deir own websites, thru ebay, survey opportunities, proofreading and translation, Freelance writing, Data Entry and so on..

However, there are many scams operating on the net and one needs to be careful and not get scammed!

I suggest u check out the legitimacy of the job/survey u r joining,

Some widely used resources for checking companies are the Better Business Bureau (www.bbb.org) and the national fraud center (www.fraud.org).

These days, you can easily find out more about a company using the Internet in a few minutes. From a company's website, you can get details about its ownership, how old the company really is and feedback from the company's customers.

You can find more detailed information about a company and check whether its a scam or not, at

all the best :)

This is a hard one. Usually good jobs you can do at home start first with a comany on site job which eventually gets turned into a network work at home deal. Usually the medical transcriptions requires you to go out and locate your own clients and this requires a license and then experience. I do know that entry level jobs are harder to come by these days. It takes much more effort to get even a basic job, let alone one which allows an individual to work in the comfort of their own homes. I am sorry there is not better news to report, and good luck in finding something which you can be happy doing. Have a really nice evening.

Hi, well I've just signed up to one. You can definitely make money, but it's not quite as easy and straightforward as they say. You become an affiliate partner with a company and you advertise their goods for them. You pay for the advertising and when they get a sale you get a commission. If you choose a good partner who's actually selling something people want to buy then yes, you can make money. Unfortunately the company I was with recommended selling 'Data Entry' the place is flooded with it. I'm going to try something different. I do honestly think there is money to be made, but you need to be careful about the affiliate you choose, and be prepared to invest a minimum £300 in the first month. Just my opinion. Good luck, Denise

Hi,

I know how frustrating it can be to keep on searching for good websites that will let you earn at home. You search for hours and days to find a few seemingly good websites but even they turn out to be just scams trying to trick you into paying them some money or make you work for hours and pay peanuts.

I have gone through all this already and over the months I came upon a few genuine websites that do pay reasonable amount of money for the work that you get them done - both Data Entry/Transcription type of works and PaidSurveys/PayPerClick/FreeOffer type as well.

I have compiled a list of such sites and am maintaining a website to share details regarding them. You can find all such information at:

Hope this will help you speed up your search for Earn-At-Home opportunities. All the Best!

Regards,
Madhavi.

Everything on the web and in the newspaper is a scam. The best way to find a job like that is local. Put an add in the local "Shopper" or newspaper. If there any bulk mail houses or print 'n mail shops in your area, they sometimes need inputing.

Medical Transcription. But, you have to find a LOCAL real company. Try the yellow pages on this topic. Good luck.
