I'm looking for percentage of people in the US who hold Bachelor's degrees. I have head that it's less than 20% (17%) but that sounds like of low. If you don't have a documented source for this figure could you please recommend organizations that might have this info?

In 2005, approximately 27.2 percent of the population 25 years and over had received a bachelor's degree or more.

This is US Census data. Note that it is Bachelor's degree "or more."

I remember reading in Newsweek about a year ago that 27% of people in the US over 25 have a BA/BS/BBA. However, keep in mind this stat includes tens of millions of baby boomers who grew up in an era where a HS diploma was it. The same article said that only one out of four people who go to college actually finish.

21% of people had taken some college classes yet had no longer earned a level in 2000, compared to 18.7% 10 years previously. 15.5% had earned a bachelor's degree yet no more desirable, compared to 13.a million% in 1990. 8.9% earned graduate or specialist stages, compared to 7.2% previously.

24.4 Percent in 2000.

It seems low to me also, but I think that's because we don't associate with a large group of uneducated people.
