As an Afro-American, I'm inclined to believe that romance isn't a ethnic or racial cornerstone. However; I know for a fact that Afro-American men are very passionate, particular those who are in love!

A man in love; is a man who knows no boundaries to express his feelings; bad and the good ones. In as much; romance is the art of imaginative seduction. Inspired to let the other know how important they are and adored. Yes we are romantic; but I don't believe we have the cornerstone.

Sorry, but i would have to disagree. Blacks guys that my sisters, best friends, and cousins have been with, are not romantic at all. They are more so sweet talkers and know how to get what they want. After a few months of dating, and marriage especially, the romance will stop and you'll see his true colors. Nothing aganist them, it's just what they've shown. White guys are more willing to go the extra mile for the one they love, and not just for something they want, but because they care.

For "PEPPER":

The Asker's question *may* have been over-generalized, but it was framed within the GLBT Category and context darling.

Best Wishes!

"I try to view all people as equals and give them all due respect by assuming everyone is Gay until I'm told otherwise." ~~Me

EDIT ADDENDUM: After thinking a bit more about the Question, I should add that I date almost exclusively outside my culture (or race, if you prefer).
I've found that men who are culturally/ethnically different are indeed more 'passionate', and not just in bed. Men from other cultures and other countries tend to have a broader and deeper understanding of relationships without focusing on sex alone.
Clearly, saying that one specific culture versus another is more passionate is subjective. We, who date outside of our culture and have done so for some time, tend to expect that ... and overall I've experienced very few unfulfilled expectations.
Referring specifically to Black men, I'd have to agree with the Asker. They do tend to be more romantic ... in bed. Why they aren't more passionate about life in general, I can't answer. (By the way, I'm speaking of African American men and not Black men from different countries.)
I think what it all boils down to is personal preference.
If one dated someone he didn't like from the outset, I doubt that the level of passion wouldn't go far beyond the first hot and steamy cup of coffee.

Culturally, it's valued. This is a huge generalization (as is your question, so I feel it's fair game...) but men tend to try to portray the qualities that the women they want seem to value. So, perhaps black men are more attracted to the women that like the romantic stuff.

If you want to get all crazy with it, you can look at how the black culture has been oppressed in this country. It's only been the last few decades when a black man could distinguish himself through financial independence or education. So a black woman would not necessarily be able to find the same kind of "stability" that a white woman could find in a white man. You'll notice, as a generalization, that white men try to distinguish themselves to their women through buying a house, making good money, holding down a steady job, something that our country doesn't always allow the black man to do. So the black man appealed to the areas where he could distinguish himself- by romantically wooing her.

This is a huge over-simplification, but since your question was, I answered it as such.

The stereotype that their junk is huge, and the misconception that anything and everything a black guy does HAS to be cool, even if he's being a complete and total jackass. Take any romantic thing that a black guy says and make a white guy say it, and he'll be looking like a stoner.

actually, it depends on the person. I know some blacks who r far from being romantic and white too. in contrast, i also know very romantic white guys (I personally know one)...
what i'd like to say is that it really depends on the guy, not the race. the race has nothin to do with it...

Guys are guys. Some are romantic and some are jerks. No matter what their race is.

Hah, whatever! I'm not into black guys, but from what I've seen they are the ones that will have sex with anything, whenever, be really nasty, unclean and don't usually wear protection. And monogamous is not a word they are familiar with.
