I'm assuming most of us have certain reservations and preconceptions regarding prostitutes, whether or not we understand their backgrounds - so speak up and please try to elaborate on your opinion (it's for school); I'd like to know why you feel that way.

For the religious - how would you feel if you saw a prostitute praying in your place of worship?

If you actually happen to be a prostitute yourself, all the better - share your views with us. I'm looking to understand the issue from all perspectives.

There are many different reasons for a person to become a prostitute, and as many different types of people as there are prostitutes.
Most have some financial problem. Some are just lonely. Some just enjoy sex. Some are very loving.
Some traet it like any other job.
Anybody working for someone else is prostituting their body or mind.

I don't think prostitution is good at all. It's like the worst thing on earth that is still allowed everywhere. I personally think that any other job (Not illegel ones) on earth is better than being a prostitute .. Since there are so many jobs out there, I just don't understand why these people would stay in that kind of work. I think what they do is indecent and dirty and the environment that they are in is like hell ...

If I see a prostitute praying in my place of worship, that just doesn't seem to look good. Because what they do are against the teachings of God anyways, so it's kind of strange to see them at a place of worship.

I feel bad for them. I'll always remember a visiting speaker that came to my high school. She had set up a shelter and ministry to help women get out of prostitution. She said she had never met a prostitute who didn't have a history of childhood sexual abuse. It seems that you'd have to have a lot of things go very very badly in your life to get to the point where being a hooker seems like a good idea. No happy woman would want to be a prostitute - at least not the streetwalking type.

Now the "high class" call girls are another story. Can't say I have a lot of respect for that kind of decision. Same goes for women who basically are prostitutes, but are doing it the legal way - being some rich guy's mistress or trophy wife.

I once worked with an attorney that said if he were a woman he would be a high class prostitute. Make some man pay for your house, car, etc. I am religious and go to big enough church that there probably are a few in it. I think I look down more on prostitutes than strippers. Something about having sex for money seem worse than just taking your clothes off for money. Maybe it is because I was raised to believe sex was more emotional than physical.

I see prostitutes as people just like you and I. I also see hurt, abused souls that people have hurt. I don't think I would think anything if I seen her pray either, how many people go to a bar take home a guy every night and go to church every Sunday, am sure alot do. What is the difference. Not saying I agree with it, but I try not to judge who knows what the situations are that they are there? Maybe they are forced? Maybe their kids are starving? That is between God and them. I wish them nothing but a better life in the future and that praying will only help them find what they need for themselves.

First off its not the prostitute that I dont like its the life they are having to live or choosing to live, the things that that line of work require one to do. They are real people just like you and me, they have a heart, mind, and soul just like the rest of us. I truely believe that most of these gals have had a very sad past history. If we ever took the time to talk to one if we had a heart at all it would probably bring us to tears. I know it is not good for one to lead a lifestyle as this, but some seem to be stuck in it. As a christian I would love to see these types of people in my church praying, that is what God wants, if we all were perfect we wouldnt need a house of worship. The word also says that one sin is no greater than the other. So is SusyQ is prostituting her sin is no greater than Mrs. Snoot who is spreading gossip. We need to be figureing a way to help these girls out of situations instead of condeming them to one......hope this helps you out

Prostitutes are prostitutes because they have had really bad childhoods. Possible abused or exposed to a lot of sexual things. They have no self esteem and it;s sad. it's not their fault most of the time. it's how they were raised.

If i saw a prostitute praying at church i would say..hey it's a free country why not? it's mostly ignorance on their part they don't know any better. they need to be educated.

Prostitutes provide a valuable service. The exchange of sex for money is more honest than the games girlfriends and wives play by manipulating their mates using the power of their sex.

Why shouldn't a prostitute be able to pray at my church or synagogue? I think a prostitute's life is better than that of a woman-hating zealot.

To each their own.
If they aren't hurting anyone go for it.
Well and if they are and the other accepts the responsibility, this means going into the act of prostitution, I say it's population control.

What do I care, if you're not hurting me. Wow, for religion, it will all be hipocracy.
There can't be a God with so many stupid people in the world. We have been de-evolving since the 90s...

I guess some people do what they feel they have to do. I can't say in all honesty that if it came down to my kids starving or me selling it, I'd have more customers than McDonalds. Thank the Lord I've never had to do that but there's no limit to what I would do for my kids. Of course some of them like the easy money. To each his own. As long as I don't catch one anywhere near my man or my boys(when they're old enough to know what it is).
