It depends on what kind of people you hang around whether or not it's considered "cool"
My younger sister used to say that she hated country music, then she heard a variety of songs that i was listening to and admitted that it was alright.
The type "country" carries a stigma that it's just for rednecks and the like. So, most people secretly enjoy it while the rest of their peers are bashing it.
I'll admit, I have made fun of country music but it's only in fun. I've been listening to it since I was little and when I was about 14 I grew to love it. That's not the only type of music that I listen to though. I think if you keep your mind set on only liking one type of music it's very close minded and wrong. For instance, some people say that they hate all kinds of rap. Well i don't think they've actually listened to ALL kinds of rap to make a fair judgement. They probably only hear what certain groups of people listen to around them and make their assumption that all rap sounds like that.
Well, anyways, country is cool - I have lots of favorites but right off the top of my head i'd say : Dierks Bentley. Jo Dee Messina. Kenny Chesney. Brad Paisley and Toby Keith

What's does the lady say in the song, I was country when country wasn't cool. It's not cool, It is the hottest music that has ever been. It just shows you are ahead of your friends. When their so called music is dead and gone country will still be here, as always over the years.

For the most part, we live in the Hip Hop era, which is considered cool. So although Country can be cool, it's not as mainstream as hip hop.

Um, I'm from the North - Upstate New York, if you want to be specific - and I like country. I mean, I'm not obsessed with it, but I do enjoy most of it. I don't like the stuff that twangs, though - can't handle it.

I love country, cool or not, especially "Mainstreet" by Bob Seger and "You Can't Run From Love" by Eddie Rabbitt.
