I am terrified of all insects, bugs whatever, anyways I was puttin gas in my truck and when I came back out there was a prayin mantis by my truck! I screamed loud too! some guy came runnin to see what was wrong....I told him he stated laughin his butt off, so I told him to make it leave or whatever they do! He said sure! made it leave and then I made him look in my truck to make sure there wasnt anything in it! My hubby said that was dumb to do! Would u have done the same if u were terrified of insects or bugs like that? I just want to know if anyone one else is that terrified of bug and insects too?

... Sweetie you seem really bothered by this so I'm going to share something that is completely humilating for me.... I have a fear of bats. Bats will sometimes get into my house. They come thru cracks in the attic ceiling, but anyway... When they do, and they are flying around my house, I am Screaming Like My Hair's On FIRE! If I can get my legs to work, I try to run outside as quickly as possible. ... I have even left my 2 children behind, because when there's a bat in the house, it's every person for themself. I'm usually reduced to cowering in a corner in the floor and "sobbing" uncontrolably by the time my husband wakes and comes to my rescue. My 12 yr old daughter thinks this is hysterical, like her father , she's unafraid, thank god! I've even had to call my 15 yr old nephew in the middle of the night to come get the bat(s) out and I usually make him stay over...just incase. LoL I hope this makes you feel better about yourself cause I feel like a big fool admitting all this for the world to see lol

Praying Mantis are actually one of the most gentle bugs on this planet, seriously. They can not change the fact that they look scary to you. I'm just saying go easy on the little buggers - you're a little higher up the food chain than they are. In regards to the female biting off the heads of the males- this is true, but the males willingly submit so that their offspring will be healthy.Human phobias are nothing to laugh about, I agree. I just don't like to see people aimlessly killing any of the creatures on this planet.

Since you have a phobia about insects, and a praying mantis is quite large and looking right at you, yes, your reaction was understandable, and it is too bad insensitive others weren't nice about it. They probably knew that it doesn't bite and is one of the most beneficial insects, but dang it all, it is a bug! It needed to die! Now it is out there somewhere, waiting, ...and watching...

It's not dumb. Thats just how you react to things that scare you. I'm terrified of spiders and I'm sure I would have done the same thing and if it was big enough i might have cried or thrown up. So dont worry im sure your not the only one whos done that :)

I am that terrified of bugs too. I probably would have screamed too, and I dont know what I'd do after that. Probably just stand there looking scared and stupid and wait for it to go away.

Personally, love, i'm not that freaked over most insects. But if I came across somethin tha' gave me the hibbitiby-gibbies - aye, i'd be askin' fr assistance and screamin a bit. We've all got our little "bugs" that get to us, eh? So no hard feelins and no feelin bad. :) There's nothin wrong with ya, so let mr. hubby over there know it. (But let im' know with love, eh? :)

I do not freak out at the sight of insects. My daughter does and I tell her to stop being silly. They won't mess with you unless you mess with them first. Although I admit I despise a cock roach.
