Your local Post Office has a set of regulations concerning the placement of your mailbox. They will be glad to give you one. Be sure and call the toll-free Utility LocateTelephone number 3 days before you do ANY digging. Your street will have underground utilities such as CATV, Telephone, Power, Gas, Long Distance Cables, Sewer, Water and other things. Look in your telephone directory...It is listed in the front under"BEFORE YOU DIG" throughout the directory....or under "Utilities". The one call will notify all utilities for you. The three days allows them to check the records and show you where their lines are by marking them. It also allows you to get to the Post Office for the instructions). It is costly to not call.
