Well, personally, all the male GP's I've met have been larger, smellier, and generally more skittish. I would say females. Unfortunately, this means that there are lots of male GP's in shelters. If you want to do a good deed, look up your local animal shelter and see if there are any nice GP's there you can adopt. I would assume that neutered males would be better smell wise and possibly attitude as well. Good Luck!

Either sex will make a good pet. One is not particularly better than the other. I have worked with both male and female guinea pigs for years. They react the same when it comes to a pet.

boys fight to much for terroritory and girl piggies they get along just perfectly for some odd reason. when my sister's piggie had a kid my piggie helped her out showing the baby where to drink the water and where the pellets where at. Now each time the baby girl piggie can't find her auntie she cries for her until she comes to get her. when she acts up my piggie puts her in her spot.
