Ok. I have a sister in law that is about to put her phone bill in her sons name. Asside from the apparrant poor choice is this illegal for her? I cannot believe she would do this and hope there is something I can find to urge her not to do this... it is just plain wrong.

Oh by the way her son is only nine years old.

She can't do that! You need to be an adult. Your sister in law is a fool. Is she trying to avoid paying for it or something?
What a loser.

When a consumer subscribes to phone service they enter a contractual agreement with the phone company, and the agreement lays out the terms of acceptance, etc, between the customer and the company. If someone places false information on the agreement - in this case the name of a child that is too young to enter into a contractual agreement at all - then it would be reasonable to expect that one day when the phone company finds out about it that thier legal department could be the source of a lot of (preventable in the first place) heartache and stress for your sister and family.

not only is she a looser, that's fruad and if she doesn't get caught she giving her kid credit whether good or bad, if bad, she is going to make it hard for him to apply for loans, buy a house or car, and now a days get a job because of his poor credit history that he was never responisble for. Thanks mom!
