They are the same as hetero couples. Just as many straight couples sleep around and cheat as stay together. Same with gays, but many seem to think that gays can't have a relationship because they are only after sex. There are many who don't care about relationships, but also many looking for a partner for life. If gays could get married then that will solve misconceptions about gays being so promiscuous.

I have to say as the gay community continues to grow and be accepted within our great society, the length of relationships between 2 males or females will increase as a result of inclusion. As it stands more and more couples are looking for long term relationships to satisfy the need of belonging and giving to each other in a nurturing relationship. I myself have been with my current partner for ten years this October 5. Its been a great experience and would'nt trade it for the world. Along the same lines we have many friends who are also couples and we tend to hang out together and share movies, dinners and outings together...like most couples do in straight relationships.
We have good friends that have been together for 64 years...Yes, 64 years! They are really getting up there, but they have been in their relationship since their late teens...a true uphill battle, back in those days, hiding from society to retain work, profession and dignity in a society that admonished anything gay. We've come along way, but things are moving forward. Loving each other is beneficial in so many ways. Keep in mind that relationships are not easy to maintain wether straight or gay...Our divorce rates within the straight world have skyrocketed, and longlasting relationships of the past with grandma and grandpa only stayed together because society dictated that it was the right thing to do...thus living angrily with each other and fostering many dysfunctional households...love betwen two people is always in state of flux, because we as people are always changing...thus the long term relationship between two people has to be nurtured and maintained and expected to shift and grow...otherwise break up is imminent.

Nine years and counting!
My "straight" marriage only lasted two. You tell me.
Best example of gay/lesbian relationship longevity is the couple who were granted the first Same Sex Marriage License in San Fransisco, Phyllis Lyon and Del Martin, together 51 years as of 2004...still counting!!!!

Mine has lasted 21 years but it has been a rocky road. Capricorns and virgos are a bad mix and we require a lot of work to keep it together

As long as both of y'all put in the effort to make it work.
Fourteen years here, with some time off and rocky patches in the beginning.
