you have to be mean to your own dog. if he gets aggressive and tries to attack take him down so he'll be laying on his side on the floor and put your hand over the side of the neck and kinda of press it to calm him down. TRY IT.

I have a beagle, they do bark a lot! Try giving him a lot of exercise during the day, maybe a couple short walks or one long one. That way when he's home he'll be too tired to bark hopefully! Hound dogs need a lot of exercise and time to sniff and explore. Try getting him out more where he's around people more too, where he won't feel threatened by them as much. Don't give him treats when he's barking or he'll think he's being rewarded for it. Good luck!!

Beagles are natural barkers honey and either you spend the fortune on the doodads to quiet him or you take him to obedience classes. If money is an issue, call your local humane society and explain your situation, they often offer classes at reduced prices. Socializing your dog also helps. If you take him around on a leash in the neighborhood more often, he'll get use to the sounds of people and other dogs and it won't bother him as much. Just keep in mind, that before you get frustrated with him, it's in his nature to let you know that other people/dogs are around, and since he can't talk...he barks. I'm sorry you live in such a place where the neighbors aren't as understanding. Good luck to you.

WELL, you couldn't have picked a dog that barks more, I'll tell you that!! Try this. Get a empty pop can, fill it about 1/4 of the way with small stones/pebbles. Duct tape the top. When he barks, shake the can at him. It SHOULD work, but no guarantees, because those dogs freakin' BARK! Good luck

Buy Cesar Millan's Book, and watch "The dog whisperer" on the Ntional geographic channel. One thing I know would help is lots and lots of exercise, walks, exposure to people dogs the world. the other thing would be a basic obedience class( usually cheap through yuor local pet store) It sounds as though your dog is the dominant one in your household and that is big trouble. You really don't want your dog calling the shot s for you or himself.

Might take him to the vet and get him some nerve meds. I am serious. He may just be nervous still.
