No I don't think the world will come to an end tonight or Aug 30th
I am not interested in government or politics tonight.
I don't know about other peoples children but mine is in bed and has been since 8 30

Ok dear, August 22nd was interpreted by Muslims to be the sacred day when the 12th Imam appears and leads the Muslims into war against Israel. Ahmadinejad (Iranian president) believes he is helping to fulfill this prophecy. They have nukes, so conceivably, people fear D-Day for Israel (Israel released a statement today, wisely, that they should be prepared for such an attack at any time). Iran came into 8/22/06 yesterday (4pm on 8/21 ET in the US). So far, nothing dreadful yet, but they anticipate the Imam will appear in a Mosque to lead them into war. I also wonder if the president had his fingers crossed while negotiating with the UN?

the Earth and all life as we know it will be destroyed when a asteroid impacts into the Atlantic Ocean. Tidal waves will alter the worlds coast lines and steam and debris will blot out the sun for decades if not for weeks on end.
There is one theory that may divert the asteroid. That is to play hip hop and rap music backwards while pointing the speakers into space. The combined bass may inject sound waves to divert the asteroid from hitting the earth.

The day will come to an end at 11:59 tonight, and the month will come to an end on August 31st, but other than that, we'll be around. And, kids - off to bed, I'm not saying it again!!!

well, I'm 43 years old, and so far during my lifetime everytime someone has said the world was going to end - it didn't! So I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that the world continues after tonight.

check your spelling. anyone who thinks that the world will end on a specific date should be hung by his toenails. if the human race dies out, the universe will keep going. we are a lousy 6 billion carbon based, bipedal species that is more concerned about living than the well being of the rest of the universe. why should the universe care?
