It is in their heads. They don't really understand why they are sooooooo unhappy and they hate to see other people who are not as unhappy as they are. Take 2 5 year old kids: playing on the play ground, one has a truck and the other one doesn't. so the one without stomps on the truck and breaks it and now is happy because the other child has nothing that he doesn't have. This is the same thing just adults don't stomp on a truck they stomp on your feelings......................

Oh My God! I love this so much! They can't seem to have a pity party all by themselves so they invite you (or me), in that case. They're like Eeyore the donkey who is always miserable or someone walking with rain cloud hanging over them!

I have a friend like that and I can only take her in small doses! You know what I mean? Being around someone like that for too long makes you feel depressed and anxious to get away!

They probably want you to be miserable with them because they can't stand their own company! It's probably true that "misery loves company", as the saying goes!

A genuine article of a miserable person doesn't need company. They are completely self-assured in the absolute inescapability of their misery.

People who look "miserable" and need company are posers. They actually haven't decided if they are indeed miserable or not. Don't be fooled by them. If you distract them, they'll forget their "misery". They're pretty lame, but normal. They haven't really earned the title of Miserable. They're just trying it out like an ill-fitting pair of shoes.

Because miserable people want empathy as well as sympathy towards their problems. That is why, as everyone said prior to my answer, "Misery loves company"

miserable people want you to be miserable with them because if they see someone else happy it points out everything that is wrong with their lives and that is obviously a real bummer.

No. They figure if they can make you even more miserable than they are, they will be happier than you, and therefore less miserable.

Get it?

But stay away from them anyway, okay?
