Yes you are retarded. Pink Floyd songs are for the totally stoned person. To get the proper feel of any of the Pink you need to be wasted.
Mother do you think they'll drop the bomb,
mother do you think they'll like this song
wooooo, momma do you think I need to build the wall.

Songs from Ummagumma are a real mind bender.....Animals......
Careful with that axe Eugene.......
I can go on and on about the Pink, but try some weed and listen when you are stoned. You won't believe what you are hearing....esp. if you have surround sound...what an experience that is!

Pink Floyd lyrics are not for the masses...they are for folks who can understand that there's more to life than McDonald's and Wendy's.

Start Dark Side Of The Moon on the third lion's roar at the beginning of The Wizard Of Oz...then you will understand.

You are NOT retarded. Pink Floyd lyrics speak of many many things, most of which are experienced by the writer while he was on Acid. You are not retarded, just sober.

To simplify things, you must understand that a lot of Pink Floyd's lyrics (written mostly by Roger Waters in the 70s) refer to the loss of their first bandleader, Roger Keith "Syd" Barrett (who just passed on July 7th of this year, by the way...). Wish You Were Here-the band wished he hadn't wasted himself so quickly on acid in the late 60s. Brain Damage (from "Dark side of the Moon")-the lunatic is in my head-speaks of the damage the drugs did to Syd. "Shine On You Crazy Diamond"-"you reached for the secret too soon-you tried for the moon" = he took too much L-25 trying to gain further creative insight ...and on and on.

nope...sorry. but i can tell you that if you really want to know what its all about, you gatta (first of all dump the notion that drugs will help, cos these are british intellects talking, not the random visions of their acid trips)do some research and find out about waters' past to get what he has to say cos he speaks of things that have happened to him. like loosing his father in war shortly after he was born; etc
