because the gov don't get money from it! so if a man and a women go on a date, he pays for the dinner, movies etc and they go back and have sex, doesn't that classify as prostitution?

Let's take the second part first -- It should be none of the government's business as to what two consenting adults do in their home. But this concept implies a non-monetary exchange even if it involves what was once called a "zipless f***"
However, laws are created to address what are seen as being counter to societal norms. Prostitution can be seen as coercion of females (and males) into doing acts that they may not do of their own free will. From a legal viewpoint, banning prostitution can also be seen as serving public health concerns due to the potential of STDs. Public health concerns may also come into play due to the number of prostitutes who are addicted to illegal drugs.
Prostitution is often considered a "victimless" crime as the two participants are essentially negotiating an oral contract for services rendered in exchange for payment. Unfortunately, there are too many women, especially, who are forced into this activity and are most certainly victims. Therefore, one could argue that not only should prostitution be illegal but the aiding and abetting of such activity.

I'm glad prostitution is Illegal. It gives the government the right to arrest pimps who make money off of women.sexually
Why these women let the pimps control them and take all of their money, I'll never understand.
Along with prostitution , often times there seems to be a life of drug abuse, that is not good for the community. I see evidence of irresposible behaviour wherever I go ...i'e condoms and needles in kids playgrounds, they shouldnt be exposed to this it's not right., they deserve a safe place to play and just be kids.
Women you are smart, you dont need to disgrace yourself in this way for the sake of men who use you.
You are brilliant, dont sell yourselves short for anyone, especially for weak men who can't seem to control their desires.
You are so much better than this . rise above it, get help but whatever you do get out, it robs you of your self esteem and kills your spirit.

they are not taxed thats why. If government recieve taxes then the whole thing about prostitution dovetailing with stds and aids would go away. Its an awefull stereotype anyway because most prostitutes use condoms before having sex and they know more about it. Most "professionals" are the one who sleep with everybody without protection.

I guess government is concerned about the growing rate of STD's, and that's why they have declared prostitution illegal in a bid to curb down STD's

It's legal in Nevada, and in several foreign countries. Its a tough life to be involved in though(I never was one,I know some former prostitutes and exotic dancers, and have heard some of their stories).

Let's see.
1.Prostitution spreads STDs.
2. Prostitution causes crime. Even if it were legal, the crime probably wouldn't disapear.
