most people are no longer split but fed up with both parties. I used to be a republican until Bush and his cronies showed how bad the party really was. What is really interesting is everyone on the trading floor I worked on boo'd every time Bush came on the TV. Not to say the Democrats are any better. Hillary is just as bad.
Why can't we get someone decent to run? On either party? Guess you have to sell your soul to get there.

Having a two party or a multi party system is not necessarily bad. we are a democratic society and will always tolerate opposite views and keep a check and balance on each other. I agree at times we grind to a grid lock because of party politics. However look at the alternatives. A communist system and the Nazis are basically a one party system. So are the Talibans as well as the current government in Iran. They can be autocratic and dangerous. Having too many parties on the other hand will turn the political framework into a free for all. Just look at Iraq. Imperfect as it may be, the American political system seems to be better than most.

It does not "have to" be. It just is.
Think of the philosophical differences like the yang-yin balance. Too much of one or too much of the other are equally bad, though the symptoms of each imbalance are often different.
Or think of it like the mix of hot and cold that comes out of your shower. If only hot water comes out, you get scalded. But do you really want to take an ice-cold shower, especially in the winter?
But with the right mix, each has its place, and both can work together. All we need to do is get all the moderates in both camps to tell the fanatics to shut up, so the rest of us can get some work done.

It seems that when you have a government that says "either you are with us or against us" or accuses anyone who disagrees with a policy, of aiding the enemy. Accusations of disloyalty or being not patriotic because you disagree will cause severe division along political lines or religious lines when those accusations are made on religious grounds. It is a sad testament that our current leaders disallow criticism or dissension and do so in the name of both religion and patriotism when this country and its' ideals were built on the concepts of political and religious freedom and dissension.

It is the oldest form of control. Utilizing fear to manipulate and control the masses. It was utilized all through the middle ages, except it wasnt politics it was religion. They divide and conquer. If we are against each other, then the powers in control never have to worry about us cooperating w/each other to make this country what it could be.

There are good and evil in all so it is just who is the smartest and finds a way to win. Both Dems adn Reps want to have the power and control. Both have more money then they can spend so the only thing left is power.
It is a power thing.. that is all. Lie cheat and kill to get it but they will get it.

Because people don't have anything better to do than blame other people for their problems.
