Because you have probably always eaten alot of proteins like meat, nuts, rice, stuff like that. You see, when you lift a weight, each muscle strains itself, then rebuilds itself. Every time it rebuilds itself, it makes it a little bit bigger than it was before, kind of like when you break a bone. What you put into your body is the building blocks your body uses to rebuild itself. The most important part of a workout is what you do in the 30 minutes after you've exercised. So drink a protein drink and eat smart.
I worked at 2 health clubs for about 4 years, just so you know where I got that info from.

genetics limit ur bodies ability to grow muscle some people jsut cant grow past a certain level or even at a high speed likeme i can put 30 pounds of muscle on my frame in less then 2 months where as my brother can put 10 lbs of muscle in like 3 months its metabolism diet and genetics

It has to do with your body type. There are three distinct body types; the skinny one, the muscular one and the fatter one. Skinny guys have trouble gaining muscle and must work harder at it. It takes about two years at least to move from one body type to another. Also might have something to do with testosterone (or other hormones) levels.

you have to trian each muscle onec a week for 40- 60 mins 4- 6 days a week have one gram of protein for each pound u weigh eat 20x your body weight from calories use heavy weights and 4-6 reps or sometimes 6-8 take supplments like whey protein, glutamine, vitamin C Do exercises like bench press,squats, deadlifts

It comes down to genes and what you eat. If you have a high protien diet... Then you will gain fast. As well, he might have a naturally high cretine level in him... So he balks up fast.
And it depends on how long he has been working out.
