water carries electricity! it can go through your phone lines into your phone! therefore you talking on the phone can get the shock of your life! that was really a stupid question! I learned that in the 3rd grade! Thanks for the points though!

Well, never talk on a phone 'in' the shower no matter what the weather is like, lol.
But the reason for the shower one is because if lightning strikes close it can come up the water pipes, I've always heard.
I guess with the phone it is the same thing..but then it wouldn't be safe using any electrical equipment indoors during a storm.
You also aren't suppose to be near a window. I guess because lightning can travel through glass?

The telephone is still connected to the outside of the house. You run the risk of major electric shock. Get off the phone man.

Just talk on a cordless phone. The chances of lightning killing you are small anyway.

Both utilities come from outside sources, and are both great conductors of electricity. You can possibly be electricuted.
