The only French music I am familiar with is by Sir Alice and Indochine. Indochine is probably not what you're looking for.

I have one Sir Alice song which is in French. I don't know what her other songs are like, but she has a good voice which would probably match what you are looking for.

Also, I am not entirely sure what her lyrics mean. I can understand some basic French, but I am certainly not good at it!

I would pick Carla Bruni... I was in a super cute jewelry store in Paris last year and her CD was playing... although her music can be a little heavy. "Le Toi de Moi" is a fun song and "Le plus Beau de Quartier" is great too.

Another good choice would be Jenifer (the winner of Star Academy a few years ago)... some good songs would be "Maintenant" (upbeat), "Au Soleil", "Des Mots Qui Sonnent"

Other choices: Tina Arena, Celine Dion, Chimène Badi, Natasha St. Pier, Florent Pagny (male) or for a younger feel Diam's (young female rapper - her best song in my opinion is "Jeune Demoiselle")

Are you looking to sell CD's or just have a mixed CD playing? What is your demographic? Why French music?

With a little more info I could really pinpoint for you what would be best.
