I use liquid foundation and i apply it with a foundation BRUSH. When i run it under water and try to rub it to get it clean but it doesnt. When it dries the bristles are stuck together but the bristles are oily feeling. I just got the brush about a month ago so i dont think its time to buy a new one bc theyre kinda expensive. Anyone know how i can clean it?

Sure - but don't buy any of those expensive brush shampoos. I went to a MAC counter and asked them what they use (the girl actually said to use baby shampoo) which make sense because if it is gentle enough to clean a baby's hair - it definitely will for your brushes! Make sure you air dry your brush as well. Good luck! Use the Johnson & Johnson baby shampoo - at $2.99 - that will last you forever!

Give your brushes a wipe with a baby wipe or spray with an anti bacteria brush spray after every use. And once a week wash in baby shampoo and conditioner and leave to dry flat. Best brushes to buy are made of real hair - like sable and if you buy superior brushes they will not get damaged by frequently washing them. And yes, if you don't wash them regularly you will get a build up of bacteria which could lead to skin breakouts.

Be sure to use antibacterial soap since you are using a liquid and not washing the brush each time so bacteria is breeding in that brush. Wet the brush in warm water and then apply some antibacterial soap and wash it, rinse it, wash it again, rinse it and then place it between a towel to squeeze-out the excess water. Use a hair dryer to dry. Just like new!

i use a brush to apply foundation too. it give it a more even look....anyways what i do is put a small amount of make up remover on it and rinse well with water . afterwards get the excess water out by brushing it on a towel (or hand) then let air dry. once it is completely dry brush it on your hands again to break up some of the bristles. never rub always brush. if your brush starts to shed iinvest in a better brush.

Try adding some Vaseline (the clear jelly kind) onto your brush. I use Vaseline as my makeup remover. It removes all kinds of makeup, inculding foundation.

After, try using detergent or soap to wash off the oily feel.

After washing it, wave the brush in the air for 15 seconds so the bristles won't stick together when they dry.

That should work. Best of luck to you!

Rinse brush, then soak it in warm water with mild soap. After a while, rub the bristles of the brush gently and rinse the soap off. By soaking the brush with warm water + mild soap, it allows the oil to dissolve & thus easier washing.

You will need not just water but also facial foam as well. Apply a dab of your usual facial wash to your palm and swish the wet brush in the hand in circles. You will see the facial foam changing colour to your foundation. Keep adding and washing off the facial wash until the water runs clear. Leave your brush to dry overnight naturally.

Use a gentle shampoo. Rinse well, squeeze the water out with a towel and dry it upside down. You can re-shape the bristles while it's wet.

I use brushes for applying all my make-up. As soon as I've applied my make-up, I clean them with a cotton ball and an inexpensive astringent and then lay them on the counter to dry for the next day. This way they are clean every time I use them.

Try some mild soap and warm water. If this doesn't work, sorry, but, you'll have to chuck the brush out. Liquid foundation isn't meant to be used with a brush. Use a powder one next time, they are much easier to use and you'll get a nicer, smoother look. Liquid gets into the pores and wrinkles and they cake. I really don't like liquid.
