I have noticed whenever some people want to joke around with others on this site, they get uptight. Why do people have to be like this? Can't they ever not take things so seriously?

I'm not "uptight", but I'm a vigilante when it comes to "thumbing down" religious zealots who show up in any of the Science sections. They have their own spot, and can stick to it. I think that if the adults on here were more willing to "thumbs down" off-topic questions and non-answers (like "I don't know"), and report as abuse the most egregious offenders, things would clean up and the site would be far more usable.

Some people just ask stupid questions and have no respect for other people not wanting to read some of their explicit or profane rantings. I can laugh at some and get mad at some, but I think there needs to be a category for adults only. I see a lot of kids on here that should not be reading what some have written. that is what upsets me the most is knowing that there are some who do not have respect for kids.

I don't know for sure. All of us aren't uptight, although I've been irritated once ... for a few seconds. To me, Q&A is fun and informative in one way or another.
