go to the web site fro family court in your county, download the forms, complete then file required number of copies and pay the fees. required paperwork and fees vary by county.

Go to your state's website, click on the download forms icon. Search for the proper paperwork, download it, and filll it out to the best of your ability. Then go down to your local clerk of courts office, pay the filing fee. They'll stamp it, give you a court date to appear. Then you'll have to make some copies and have your spoused served a set by a process server. Appear in court on the day ordered and whha laaa....legally separated. That part is easy, but then it's usually followed up by more court dates for divorce proceedings.
