Don't know if the seller's reputation indicated thereat were true. So i'm afraid to transact business with an ebayer especially in my case, im outside metro manila and i need to deposit the payment first and have to wait for the product for 2-3 days. Am i making a right decision if i buy something from ebay?

The company has always reported that a very very small % of transactions result in fraud. Sadly, however the % increases (understandably) with higher value transactions.

The more common case is when fraudsters 'hijack' another users account, pose as that user (with great feedback), list an item, collect payment via non-paypal methods, and disappear with the $.

Three key things to do to stay safe
1- always pay via paypal
2- always transact ON the eBay platform
3- check the seller's history, and see if this item is completely different from what they normally trade...

here's a cool thread about recent tractor fraud on eBay...

I have been buying and selling on Ebay for over 5 years. I have a 100% rating. If you want to buy on Ebay, check the persons rating, and comments left by others. Everyone has to pay before the product is shipped. I would advise you to use Pay Pal. It is easy to set up an account using your checking account or credit card. Just go to www.paypal.com, it is a safe and secure way to pay for Ebay items. If for some reason you do not get your product from the seller. You can file a claim with PayPal and get your money back. I have really enjoyed Ebay I have found some great products for a fraction of the cost of what I would pay in a store. I hope this helps. Good luck

Buying from e-bay is not that much different than buying from anywhere else - it is buyer beware, but beware a little more when you don't know the seller and can't really see what you are buying. I buy on e-bay only things that I can't find anywhere else, such as discontinued items. For example I bought Brita Fill n Go filters on e-bay because I can't buy them in a store anymore.

I have found all sellers I have dealt with on e-bay to be ok, with the possible exception of one. That is not bad, since I have bought about 75 things on e-bay. However, I use Pay Pal and live in Canada.

I don't know if this is of any help to you, but best of luck with it.

Both my son and my daughter order things from Ebay all the time. Sometimes they have things to sell and never have a problem. They are just as safe as a bank. My daughter orders clothes and gets them in excellent condition. Try it and you won't be disappointed. They are a reputable company to deal with.

You can see their ratings and feedback left by other buyers of their products.
If the seller has cheated someone then they will have negative feedback. I've bought over 16 items on Ebay based on positive feedback scores.
good luck!

Look at how long they have been selling on e-bay and how many good reviews they have. If they have been there for awhile, and have good ratings, then I would say it is ok......... People are not going to lie about everyone they buy products from. They are going to tell if someone ripped them off. Good Luck
