Of course you should tell them. Although they are strict most parents don't want you to feel insecure or worried about something you want to tell them. If they are really strict about your boyfriend and just really don't like him, maybe there is a good reason. Think about it a bit. For example, if they don't like him because he wears gel in his hair or wears a tie or only likes to wear jeans, okay that's a bit silly. BUT, if they don't like him because he disrespects them and may notice that he is not treating you as well as you should be treated, or perhaps they notice that he drinks too much, etc. then YES they should be disappointed that you would be dating someone like that and you should raise your own standards when it comes to guys like that.
Be sure to date men that show respect toward you, respect themselves, are true to themselves, aren't dependent on drugs or alcohol, etc. etc. BELIEVE ME, if you lower your standards you may marry the wrong guy and be quite miserable. If you keep your standards high you will meet and fall in love with the right guy that will make you happier and happier day by day.
I DID.!!!

We just had this very same situation in my psycology class about a week ago. We came up that you should tell your parents, and hope that they will accept your boyfriend. If they don't accept him then you should explain everything to them. Explain your reasons behind liking him, and what you see in him. Ask them what their problem are with him, and see if you can give them any insight on their problems with him.

yes you should ease it on them first, dont just throw it on them, all of the sudden, make sure your boiyfriend is very polite in everything he does. when he comes to your house make sure he rings the door bell, when he starts to call your house make sure he holds a decent conversation with your parents first, make sure he is very respectful at all times. your parents will grow to love him, long after you've stopped.

You should create a scenario where you are in the process of screwing and they walk in. Then they can't hate him because they'll know you went all the way
