I don't think that there is any reason. I was reading in this month's popular science that marijuana cannot be made from the hemp plant. Also I read that hemp is better than corn and sugarcane in terms of how easily it is made into ethanol, a possible fuel of the future.

2 reasons, anyone can grow it if it is legal. Even if growing it is illegal and weed is, it can still be grown indoors without notice. This creates a very bad tax situation with Big Brother. But, they can profit from it by doing arrests and fines.

2, the best kind of weed comes from foreign soils so 3rd world countries will start to profit from the sale of it and could later pose a threat to the American economy if they import enough of it.

In terms of hemp, I don't know why it's illegal. In Canada hemp is legal and they have ways to grow only female plants so there are no buds for we potheads.

Hemp is basically illegal because you can make paper out of it, and that would put lumberjacks out of bussiness. They claim some relation with marijuanna, but thats a really crappy arguement that is as flimsy as wet toilet paper, and everyone knows it.

Its too easy to grow. the government cant get taxes off of it. If they could, it would be legal. They dont know how to profit off of it besides fineing you for haveing it.
