Of course, it is obvious that you should study... :) It seems that in college, your professors won't care about whether you get your work done or not. It is up to you how hard you work; they are there to do research, but, generally, they are pleased to help if you've a question. Don't be afraid to politely dispute or point out errors in their grading. One of my chemistry professors would always accidentally mark questions wrong or neglect to mark ones that were wrong. I would always have to inform him when he forgot to mark one or when he did mark one wrong that is supposed to be right. Generally, they will say you've got a free point for being honest and they will remember your honesty. Also, they will acknowledge their mistake in marking the correct answer wrong and adjust your score accordingly. I think that professor was just always in a hurry--a wonderful person, but just very busy...
It's really up to you to decide how much you want to study or not; the professor doesn't care. Only you can decide how you want to do in the class. They have at least hundreds of students and you'll be only one out of the hundreds. It is your job to keep up. You have to decide what sort of grades you are happy with.
You should also try to get into as many research opportunities as possible. I studied chemistry and biology at the university, but there are often projects you can get for other concentrations as well. I don't know what you are studying; so, I cannot be of much help with advice for that. Just meet a professor that you really like, maybe go to his or her office to discuss or ask questions about class material. Latch onto the professor and ask him or her for help with finding opportunities for research or projects within your major. Professors typically must do research or publish in order to remain an employee of the institution; sometimes they seek a good student's assistance...that could be you!
Also, volunteer, volunteer, volunteer. That's probably what got me into the institution I am at now. It can be the deciding factor when applying for a competitive job or higher education. Join a few organizations while you're at it. Some of them are specialized to offer volunteering opportunities.
It is also important that you concentrate in something you really enjoy. It will be less work. I am a science nerd; so, of course my concentrations were easy for me. I did not need to study them so much, and when I did study, I enjoyed it.
Don't work too hard...you've got to leave room for the boys and parties! Ha ha! I recall you are from New Mexico, USA, and that means that you've got to be careful about what you drink. ;) The drinking age was different for me (it's 18 in the Russian Federation); so, that was not an issue. I'll admit to drinking quite frequently when I first started at the university. I don't know how you feel about underage drinking, but if you don't like it, you can attend parties without drinking; it's not required! :) But as I say, I did drink at them because for me, it was legal.
I used to be quite shy, but the social atmosphere which is unique to parties really changed me. You should just be careful not to do this too much...for example, I would recommend only attending these social functions once or twice each week. That seems like a good limit. I know that I would have stopped this partying if my schoolwork had started to become poor. I have high standards for myself, and I become insanely upset for receiving anything other than a top mark. I don't know your standards, but you should just understand that you are paying for school, not for parties. If parties affect your schoolwork, then you should attend fewer of them.
As for boys, maybe you should avoid the ones that want you to get super-drunk at these parties. :) Those are probably the ones to watch out for! If you are looking for an intelligent boy, go to the physics or computer science hall, and begin a conversation with one who looks like he has bathed in the last week. I know that those guys studying those things hardly have enough time to maintain personal hygiene...ha ha! Just kidding mostly.
Back to academic endeavors, you should take as many credits as you can each semester. I did this, and I graduated early compared to many of my peers. This gets you out on the job market quicker which means that you will be wealthier over your lifetime. Just keep in mind that you are paying for college; so, you should try your best to make your money worth it. If you do well, your earnings at the fancy job you get afterwards will more than be worth what you spend on college.
(Just curious, what's your concentration? Were you cool enough to choose chemistry? Ha ha! ...and I'm sorry if I have made you bored...I'm always saying that because I write too much...sorry!)

In college you ought to develop your personality. Besides devoting time to your studies, keep space for extra curricular activities too. Whether it is boys, parties or some adventure. Just be natural and enjoy. It is the best period of your life which would not come back. Live it to the fullest.

i might want to hearken to infant Bun - I easily have had a saying for a lengthy time period - "no one is more desirable afraid of being robbed than a robber." same is authentic with dishonest - no longer continuously yet i'd be prepared to guess a fairly sturdy majority of the time someone who without be conscious turns into obsessed that you've cheated has change into that way because they have cheated. you're saying you comprehend for a actuality he's not dishonest yet re-study - are you with him each second? did you comprehend that each and on a daily basis he left for artwork he easily went to artwork and did not take a a million/2 day vacation or an entire day? you may attempt to talk through it with him even with the undeniable fact that the possibilities of this opportunities determining are fairly slender. both get couple counseling or commence getting waiting for existence after...

College is fun. Relax and enjoy yourself.
Just make sure that you have outlined your daily schedule of how many hours you are going to spend studying.
Homework is mainly project work otherwise colleges dont give homework.
