When teaching or when lecturing a class

I would suggest dressing comfortably, but conservatively. Slacks and a tasteful blouse. Nothing you wouldn't wear to a church service.

I recommend wearing slacks, a nice blouse, and comfortable shoes. Classrooms run alternately hot and cold, so take a sweater you can throw on just in case.

Remember that what you're saying to your class should be what gets the most attention. You want your students to walk out of your classroom thinking about what you said - not what you wore.

Dress Code For Teaching Assistants

I say go with the dress code that you are given upon hire. I am an Ed Tech III for high school students in the multimedia field. It all depends on what you are doing. For my job, I am expected to be prepared for any job...weither that be give a lecture, sit down with the students individually, transport them from place to place, and even sometimes run or various other jobs. At the school that I work for, I am allowed to wear jeans. That is a plus. I change my shirt accordingly. I may come in with a botton up blouse and have a t-shirt to change into. I always have a spare set of clothes, just incase. Also, look at what the other teachers are wearing, they can give you an idea. My shoes are dressy, yet have a good tread on them, for any occasion. Like I said it all depends on what your job intitles. Good luck!

Since when did a teaching assistant lecture a class? I thought they were the ones who hand out the paper and pencils and monitor tests.
I would say wear something casual, like nice slacks and blouse and comfortable shoes.

Very professional. Think of how someone is dressed in a bank. Wear dress clothes, no open toes shoes (this is for your own safety as well) wear dress slacks and dresses or skirts. Only wear jeans if the faculty is having a jeans day.

YOu should dress professionally at all times, because you are in a professional position. Especially in middle/high school, because you need to separate yourself from those students as an authority figure as much as possible. If you dress more respectable and at a more professional level, they will treat you with more respect.

Dress professionally is the right way to go. Get a few nice skirts, and a few blazers and you should be fine.

Professionally. It has been my experience that when a TA dresses like a student, his/her students don't see an authority figure anymore and think they can take advantage.
