It has been pretty accurate with my 5 children ... though none of my girls had heartbeats higher than 160. Good luck! I bet it's a girl :O)

It is sometimes hard to believe in the old wives tales that we so often hear but, I am here to tell you that I have 3 girls and one boy-amazingly the opposite of what you have and are feeling at this exact moment. I can't tell you he exact figures on the heartbeats of my children. However, I do know that the girls heartbeats ran high in the 160's and my sons heartbeat was in the 140's.
I'll have to swear by this old myth myself. I wish you all the joy in the world as to having a girl, having been blessed with having daughters and then a son was such a blissful event for myself that I can see your excitement almost in front of my very eyes.
So much luck and peace I extend to you and your family!

It depends how far you are along, if you are under 20 weeks, all babies heart rates should be between 150-180bpm and it slows down as the baby matures.

I use to always guess the sexes of babies by their heart rate until I had a mother who already had 5 girls at home. Everything about the baby's heart rate suggested boy and she said this pregnancy was completely different then all her other ones. I was sure she was finally having her boy, until it slid out and the doctor yelled it's a girl!!

Needless to say I don't go by heart rates anymore.

dont really know how true it is but i do think there could be some truth to it .as a mother of 1 boy and 2 girls my girls heartrate was much higher my girls were from 160 to 180 and my son was 135 to 145....but of course my mother was in there with me and before the doctor even told me the sex my mother had already told me and i ask her how she knew and she said heartrate..and she has three girls .so maybe true ...anyways best of luck to you and your family

My first was a girl and she always had a fast heartbeat. My second and third were boys and theirs were significantly slower. I don't believe the myth either but all I know was it worked for me.

What worked for me is that I felt totally different with this pregnancy I knew she was going to be A girl. With my sons I had an easy pregnancy and knew they where boys I even graved different foods like with her it;s been fruits and juice all healthy stuff with my boys junk food.

yes! both times i had high fetal heart rates and i had two girls. i asked my nurse once and she said only rely on it during the last trimester of your pregnancy. during the first trimesters the heart rate varies too much to count on it, but after that, you can pretty much bet that if it is faster it will be a girl. good luck
