Alaska. In the golden midnight sunlight, time stood still sometimes and just shimmered, literally shimmered. Alaska was pure pixy-dust to me when I was six years old.

Going camping with my family at the lake in the Sierra Nevada mountains of California when I was a kid about 10 years old. I like the outdoors,visiting the mountains, the pine trees, the clean, fresh air, starry skies, and being away from technology and cities.

At the bottom of the Grand Canyon is a lodge called Phantom Ranch. We walked down from the North rim and spent the night. They gave us breakfast and a lunch bag, and we walked back up the next day. Up was harder. Someday I'd like to repeat this trip but going down from the South rim and going back up the North.

technically this wasn't outdoors but i went spelunking (caving) as a kid and several times not as a kid and i loved it. There is nothing like belaying into a hole in the ground especially when your 9 yrs old.

I liked climbing trees as high as I was able to go. It was fun to look at things from way up high and a little bit scary too.
