they have a breeding center, that has been one of the most successful organizations in the united states, with over 25 baby elephants born there. AND that they have a retirement center with acres of romping land for the elephants when they are no longer able to work. AND they are some of the best mentally stimulated elephants out of any kind of facility because they are always learning new things to do, and keep them busy, instead of becoming neurotic. AND an ankus is actually a guiding tool used like an extention of the arm? Didn't know that? neither does PETA. Nearly all of PETAs pictures and 'current' info is over 30 years old. STAY CURRENT, STAY INFORMED, FOR THE SAKE OF THE ANIMALS, AND THE PEOPLE WHO CARE FOR THEM.

side note: the elephants are the only animals actually owned by RBBB Circus, all the other animals are there on a contract basis, which is why there is only a center for the elephants, and not anything else. another side note for those that believe they are forced to do tricks: 12000 pounds doesn't HAVE to do anything. they do it because they want to, and enjoy having to 'work', and the relationship they have with their handlers. Without that bond, they would not be able to do what they do!

I did know that they had a retirement center for the elephants, but not the rest. Thanks for the info...I think PETA uses propaganda to scare little kids and that is just wrong. There are much better organizations out there that use their brain and are not fanatical!

I just know that if I was an elephant I wouldn't want to be doing tricks all day for a few peanuts. I'd much rather be chilling by the river somewhere in Asia or Africa.
That's just me though.

No, but that's interesting to know. I'm glad the take care of the elephants.

Is this a rant against PETA? I hope so.

I did NOT know that stuff, though.
