The free trial that they do have for Sims 2 PC is the Sim creator module. You can get it here:

Other free stuff but this is different! Free trial for the ONLINE version of the game, called "Sims Online". It is a completely different game with graphics more like Sims 1. After the free trial it costs you a monthly fee to keep your membership.

The Sims 2 for PC is an incredible game. But not all computers can run it. Before breaking your back to get the game -- Do check out your system specs to be sure you actually can play the game. The expansions will need yet more resources so they have separate tests:

There is only a trial version. U can't just download the game online. If u want a full functional game its still better to get the "real McCoy" the pirated versions just don't work cos the build functions cannot be used. So don't even think about piracy. I just got mine not long ago & it endless hours of play. Its worth the investment.

I'm pretty sure the sims 2 is not avalible for be downloaded off the computer even if it was I wouldnt the file is huge just buy the game.
