5[(12 + 5) - 3(19 - 14)] = 5{17 - 3(5)] = 5(17 - 15) = 5(2) = 10

becomes 5[17 - 3 * 5]
becomes 5[17 - 15]
becomes 5*2
equals 10
Always perform operation inside innermost parentheses first--the 12+5 and the 19-14, then move out to next thing that sets them apart--the 17 - 3 * 5, in your ques it is brackets, then perform everything outside--the * 5.
Also, always perform multiplication and division first in any equation from left to right--the 3 * 5, then addition and subtraction from left to right -- the 17 - 15, unless the rules above applies about parentheses & brackets.
