I never did this, but this is what we the bottom of the enlisted used to call a contract marriage. It is when you go out in town and make an arranged marriage with someone in order to increase your pay and have an housing allowance with food money. It was much better then being harassed in the barracks all the time with health and comfort inspections... they were not looking to see if you were healthy or comfortable, and the watch duties and clean up days that goes along with living in the barracks.

Yes..think its a sense of honor and integrity and responsiblity.
I was married to a military man and It my old marriage I have never seen a happy married military couple.
Its sad. But a relationship or a loved one should be loved with the heart not by how the military should see a marriage to be.

Actually I've found that the girl usually rushes marriage. My brother was being stationed in Korea and his girlfriend ( now wife) made him go to the justice of the peace and get married before he left. I ,on the other hand, got married six months before my discharge. My wife and I had dated for one year and were engaged for one year before we married.

Oh Most definatly. Living in house is much better than living in the barracks! Plus, you get food money and dependant money.. all sorts of benefits for getting married and just hopefully if they decided to get married quickly that it was the right reason and not just the money.

One reason someone in the military would get married quickly, rather than living together, is that you get a pay increase when you are married.

yeah thats the latest hustle...theyget a few hundred extra but still a dumb a$$ idea to marry or to rush
