The American accent is the easiest English language accent to learn. Americans annunciate more and generally pronounce words more like they appear, as a result of an immigrant population having to assimilate to the language. British English has been stewing longer and has developed more peculiarities and counter-intuitive contractions, not to mention much greater regional variations.

Programmers for many years have been developing speech programs and getting accused of bias because they come out with a Californian accent. On looking at the code it turns out no such bias is in place , instead it is the most generic accent possible and pronounces words with the greatest phonetic resemblance. In much the same way if you learned Spanish without ever hearing it spoken, your Spanish would sound much more like Latin American Spanish than Iberian Spanish, immigrant populations assimilating to a language have a standardizing effect.

Wrong, it's the otherwise...
In Malaysia, We're speaking more and more American English WITH American Accent (due to American Industries' influences). For us, now British Accent is much harder to be used, for elimination of so-called "Old-fashioned English" is now done by phase. Today, very few Malaysians can speak the true Brit. Eng.

American Accent? There are alot of companies in different countries already (especially in Asia) that teaches about "Accent correction" or the Standard American Accent. And it's cheap too. :) If you want to study on your own, you can purchase the American Accent CD by Ann Cook at americanaccent.com :)

I'm not sure what you're asking, but if you mean speaking English is hard, it kind of is relative to other languages, as it is the hardest foreign language to learn.
