how do i get videos on my ipod?

by downloading them from limeiwre they are in the wrong format

You download them the same way you download songs.
You could be looking at the in the wrong place. When you first turn on your iPod go to Video's, not Music, then scroll down to Music Video's, click, then find your song and play.
If you click the music video under 'Music' it will just play the song, not the picture.
