I have two suggestions

THE STATION AGENT - outstanding movie about a "little person" who inherits an old train station.

REAL WOMEN HAVE CURVES - the underwear scene in the dress factory is both touching and funny! (AND... at least for me... kinda sexy!! LOL)

The Michael Moore movie on 9/11. It is an eye opener.
House of the Flying Daggers. Excellent.
The Emerald Forest. I think it's an indi. None the less, its a true story, and knowing that it is a true story while you are watching it is a mind blower.

You must see "Once Were Warriors" from New Zealand and
"Priscilla" from Australia. I think "Dear Frankie " from Great Britain was an indie also. Enjoy.
