Is there really any crime in killing a murderer? Clearly they believe it is ok, so if someone murders them then by universal morality they should have no issue with their own life being taken. If a rapist rapes someone, then they should have no problem being raped themselves (by Big Bubba in the state pen).

If a person is a terrorist willing to kill thousands of innocent civilians and justify it with their religion, showing a blatant disregard for the meaning of even their own lives, then why not execute them in the most horrible manner possible? OK so we tortured a few of them to death. So what? In their lives they did worse acts to actually innocent people. They had it coming. They had no remorse for their actions. They believed their lives were so worthless that they would kill themselves for that belief.

So what's wrong with killing/torturing terrorists? What is wrong with hunting them down and slaughtering them like the dirty animals they are?

Decency is what separates us from the terrorists. Yes, they should be put to justice, perhaps even submitted to the death penalty. However, if the judicial system orders blood revenge, we are taking backwards steps to a more barbaric society.

Also, torture should not be legalized because there is always a possibility of innocence. I'm assuming that the government would torture to elicit information out of suspects. However, under torture, people often confess incorrect information, which completely invalidates the process.

That's fine in theory. Unfortunately, many of the people in Gitmo prison, it seems, weren't actually terrorists. Many convicts on death row aren't actually guilty. Until and unless we can come up with a perfect justice system, I'd like to err on the side of due process, and even, dare I say it, mercy.

To begin with philosophy and religion are two different animals. You can't logically argue religion. As to philosophy you would naturally apply it to the person first, since he espouses that view.
Torture is against our philosphy as is killing without due process.
We strive for the higher moral ground. The jihadist is allowed these things because of religion. Philosophically he knows better.

What your suggesting is to become just like them.

What victory is it, if at the end of the day, you look in the mirror and see your enemy?

OKAY. Way too much caffeine? Or just cranky? Do you actually WANT to dispute this? Never mind. I'm too tired. Be well.
