YES! I am a certified nursing assistant (CNA) and I hear about the shortage all the time. One of the reasons is because we are so low on nurses now that there is not enough to go around, therfore the nurses that we do have have to work very long hours for days. A lot of them are really getting burned out because of the demand from their jobs. It is terrible really.

Nursing is absolutely still in high demand. Many areas of the US are experiencing such a shortage in nurses that they assist RNs from other areas to relocate.
Nursing will continue to be in great demand for the foreseeable future. One reason is that people will always need medical care, and older people need even more medical care than younger people. The population of the United States is aging, and people live much longer than they used to, in part because of advances in medical science.
My son is a paramedic, and he is busy every day. He is considering getting an RN degree so that he can advance his career and pay scale. Let's face it, people will always be getting sick, getting hurt, getting old.... so the medical professions will continue to be in great demand. If you happen to live in an area where there aren't enough nursing jobs, just look around! I live north of San Francisco, and there are always openings for RNs in hospitals and clinics in this area.

Yes, it must be ... there are always shortages where I live and many nurses who train here in Canada go to the US and other countries for the higher salaries and the travel opportunities. So in the US a person who is not a US citizen can still quite easily get a job as a nurse.

YES! I read that there will still be high demand for at least fifteen years. My freind, Kristi, is fresh out of school and can work wherever she wants. Every place seems to always be looking for nurses.
