I'm looking for GOOD modern "love" songs, NO rap, NO pop etc..looking for songs that aren't really popular. I like stuff that is honestly good music, i like a wide range of things from The Doors to the Beatles to Ben Folds Five to Radiohead to 311 to Goldfrapp to Death Cab for Cutie, think in terms of those genres. I need as many as you can think up. Thanks!

I think of The Beatles as pop, so I'm a bit confused on the genre thing, apparently, but I hope that some of these will suit you. You might not like them all, but I guarantee it's good music, and most of them (with a few exceptions) definitely don't qualify as popular.

"Somebody" by Depeche Mode
"Nitcomb" by Joe Strummer & The Mescaleros from Rock Art & The X-Ray Style
"Rainy Night in Soho" by The Pogues
"Love Song" by The Cure
"More Than This" - Roxy Music
"This Is Where I Belong" - The Kinks
"God Only Knows" - David Bowie does a good cover version of this that's on his album Tonight if you want more modern; or you can go for The Beach Boys version from Petsounds.
"You & Me" by Peter Blegvad
"Shirt & Comb" Achingly beautiful love song by Peter Blegvad, but not a happy love song; the couple is parted due to war.
"Crazy" by Pylon
"Love Minus Zero" by Bob Dylan
"If Not For You" Bob Dylan
"Blue Moon" by Big Star (NOT "I saw you standing alone...")
"Do You Realize" by The Flaming Lips
"Lips Like Sugar" by Echo & The Bunnymen
"Head On" by Jesus & Mary Chain
"Lovable" by Elvis Costello from King of America
"Looking for a Love" by Neil Young
"A Girl Like You" by The Troggs
"Tell Everyone" by Ronnie Lane
"Something Came Over Me" by Chris Stamey. The demo version on It's A WonderfulLife is vastly superior to any of the other existing recordings of this song.
"She Don't Care About Time" by The Byrds
"When My Baby's Beside Me" by Big Star

I like Kaci Brown, The Corrs, and other artists like them but you don't like POP and they are pop. Anyway Kaci Brown is one of my faves and she sings a song called "Unbelievable" and I love that song it's a LOVE song and I tink it really tugs at a person's heart if they had one. I think it's the BEST LOVE SONG EVER period.

"Modern Love" by David Bowie

(And before you say that is not modern, the list includes the Doors and the Beatles, so stuff it)
