Um, sorry to nit-pick, but I think you mean ethnicity, right? *lol*, It's ok, I got you...
I was born in St. Louis, Missouri, so that makes me an American citizen.
My birth certificate says I am "white" or caucasian, but the truth is, from the birth records of my family so far, it would seem I am a "mixed" caucasian at best, or what some few up in Canada would call "metis".
On my father's side--It's mainly a straight up mix of American English and assimilated Great Lakes Native American. It is hard to track because the birth records are spotty literally with my paternal grandfather's generation on back, and also because Michigan, where my father's folks came from, was one of those states that *had* an Indian Assimilation Act going on in the early 1800s wherein: if you agreed to give up your native faith and customs, you were given a tract of land, some minimal means to farm, and were legally allowed to "pass" for white (at least as much as the settlers would let you that is).
Of course, also there is a lot going on with *where* my father's side stopped being Pulleys (their assumed name) and started being Poes (was it Edgar Allan himself or a relative who got involved?).
On my mother's side--it is a bit more mixed up but basically a bit of Scots and Irish from her mother's side and a bit of Dutch from her father's....so yeah, generic Heinz 57 Ketchup for blood on that side, *lol*. :P
Still, you get the point. It is a bit of a hassle explaining to folks seeing as how, yeah, I pass for white but still have the skin and facial features that kinda say "something else is there".
Hope that helps. :)

There are a lot of mongrels here. That makes me sad. I think there was 1 chick who was just Filipino. While that's certainly not a real good ethnicity, at least she's a pure-bread. I, however, am your average US mongrel: English, Welsh, Scotch, Deutsch, n' a little Swiss of some sort.
