they're still around. just released a new album. i just saw them in pittsburgh 2 weeks ago--excellent show!

They're still around and on tour. Chrissie Hynde is still fronting them. They were in AC not to long ago. Go to http://www.pollstar.com and search for Pretenders, and you can find out where they are on tour.

a bit tragic of course... but Chrissie Hynde is so F'in talented... I admire her so much... she is strong and realistic... oooo where are my pretenders records... you got me in the mood to bring out my vinyl...
