i think that to install windows 95 and 98, you needed some installation diskette, i cant remember all those years back now... but i do remember diskettes for installing my first computer in like 1994 or so.

if its a upgrade disk it wont install on a clear harddrive it will only install on a lower version of windows,it also wont install on a higher version of windows.mabe your cd is scratched.

The product key in the disc does not match the key imbedded in your system...
Proof that you are new at this.
Give your friend back the disc, and try again...

its not bootable, find a bootable disk then insert your win98 disk.
