Obviously, you don't know how the turbocharger works or maybe you forgot. The turbo is run by the exhaust pressure of the engine (it compresses air to the intake ) and forces more air into the engine. The more air --the more fuel ... and so on. Now, the turbo doesn't actually make power but allows the engine to accept more fuel at the correct mixture, thus giving more power output. It sounds technical but it isn't. A good drive belt to an air conditioner compressor ( or other accessory ) is much more efficient .

Butch: but you could use a shaft+turbine setup similar to a turbo for an AC compressor. I forgot which company messed arond with the idea of running the accessories via turbos on the exhaust rather than via belt, but it was done. Turbo lag was a huge problem though. Made the engine very unresponsive by having so many accessories running from the turbo houseing.

well, a turbo doesnt have to blow air into the engine, you can redirect the airflow into any oraface you want it to, whether it be a/c or what, i wouldnt personally suggest it since i dont see where it would help. but, it can be done. its quite physically possible. the turbo gets its power from the exhaust manifold, the air being pushed out of the turbo just has to be routed to where you want. simple as that. it doesnt have to be pushed into the intake manifold. thats just where its supposed to go.

Seeing how someone has figured out a way to cool your beer using a jet engine, I guess it would be possible.
