I do not like nicknames, the one I got was demeaning and rude, I got it because kids couldn't pronounce my name, and it has stuck with me ever since then, now it's just ignorance!

I like them.
Some kid in first grade found the word "Squid" in the dictionary, and said, "Hey Sydney, it rhymes with your name!!" I've been called thesqyd or Sqydney ever since.

nicknames arent bad. the only thing for me is that i have so many nicknames and that ppl just end up callin me by my first name anyway.

some of my friends call me AJ. my first name is andrea and my middle is joelle. but it sux for them because i don't answer to it, atleast not very often.
but i like nicknames, especially if someone's name is hard to pronounce. i kinda like mine, but i didn't grow up answering to "AJ". it was just "andrea". so it kinda ruins it.

My Dad gave me one when I was young.Nicknames are O.K. if they aren't hurtful or insulting to that person.
